Course Summary
Throughout the course my professor Pablo Oliva made sure to engage the class on subjects that interested the students. In the beginning of the course he asked us in what ways we wanted to improve our Spanish. Most of the class's responses included improving vocabulary and articulation while also bettering our use of Spanish in a professional setting. Many class activities included debates on social issues while avoiding casual language as well as oral group presentations. This was a very interactive class both through working and speaking with others as well through independent assigned work that related to the class. Much of the assigned work consisted of being provided examples of job interviews and determining whether or not responses were appropriate in their given setting. Other tools provided in class included talking points during interviews and pointers on topics to touch on during an interview and what to avoid such as talking badly about a previous work experience. Lastly, there was an abundant amount of vocabulary that was learned to better our communication skills in Spanish. It made up a large component of the final exam and it helped to developing translation skills of common english words used in business setting and to better know what they mean in Spanish.
